I would like to thank my father, Robert E. Ogren, and my cousin, John A. Ogren, for taking the time and effort to research, write down and organize much of the information presented here. Our branch of the Ogren family traces its roots back to the Jönköping area of Sweden, where the name was spelled Ågren. The vowel Å in Swedish is pronounced 'Oh' so Jonas Peter Johnson Ogren changed the spelling of his name when he came to America to keep the pronunciation the same. (See The Ogren Name for more detail.) The picture below shows the family of Jonas Peter Johnson Ogren circa 1902. From left to right, front to back: Rosalie (Rose) Helena Ogren (age 27), Jonas Peter Johnson Ogren (age 60), David Paul Ogren (age 13), Anna Marie Svenson Ogren (age 56), Maria Christina Ogren (age 17), Henry Johnson (age 33), Clara Lydia Ogren (age 15), Charles Anders Ogren (age 32), Esther Matilda Ogren (age 22), Johan Alfred Ogren (age 34).
